Gold Philharmonics

The gold Philharmonic (Vienna Philharmonic) is a true 24 carat gold bullion coin, representing the Austrian Mint's heritage for fineness and high quality standards. Introduced in 1989, this is one of the world's best selling gold bullion coins. FREE insured UK delivery.

The gold Philharmonic was introduced in 1989, with an initial 1oz face value of 2,000 Austrian Schillings (ATS), this was then changed in 2002 to €100, following the adoption of the Euro currency. It is the only Bullion coin in Europe to use the Euro denomination, but is only classed as legal tender in Austria. The Austrian Philharmonic coin is also produced in silver and platinum.

Designed by Chief Engraver of the Austrian Mint, Thomas Pesendorfer, the obverse features the pipe organ in the Vienna Musikverein's Golden Hall. The reverse of the coin displays instruments of the Vienna Philharmonic - the Vienna horn, bassoon, harp and four violins with a cello at the centre. The design remains the same each year, with just the date being changed on each issue.

The Philharmonic is one of the most popular coins in Europe, and holds European bullion status, meaning that the Gold Philharmonic is VAT-Free.
