The obverse design of the Gold Eagle by Augustus Saint-Gaudens features Lady Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch and an olive branch. The reverse designed by Miley Busiek has a male eagle carrying an olive branch returning to a nest with a female and hatchlings. The text above the image reads 'United States of America' with the countries two mottos 'out of one, many' (written in latin) and 'in God we trust' on either side. The pure gold weight of one ounce, and the denomination of fifty dollars are listed below.
