Description

One of the most recognisable coins in the world, the 2023 Half Sovereign is manufactured by The Royal Mint and struck in 22 carat gold (916.7 fineness).

The 2023 Coronation Half Sovereign coin returns to the traditional St George and the Dragon design in use since 1817, alongside the new portrait of King Charles III wearing the the Tudor Crown on the obverse. To mark the Coronation year this is expected to be the only occasion where the portrait of King Charles III is displayed with a crown.

The 2023 Coronation Sovereign coins weigh 3.99g and contain exactly 3.66g of pure gold. Due to their legal tender status they are exempt from Capital Gains Tax, as well as being VAT-free due to being classed as investment gold.
